The research is done to find out whether the English Summative test consists of good items in view of Discriminating Power (DP) and Facility Value (FV). This research was held at SMP Negeri 1 Serpong, Tangerang on July, 1, 2009. The Samples in this research are 40 students from two classes (VII-4 and VII- 5). It took all the population to observe. The English Summative test papers and student?s answer sheets are used for collecting the data. The collected data are put in spread sheet the proportion of the correct responses from the upper and lower group can be counted. Then, the proportion of the Discriminating Power and Facility Value are using the formula from J.B Heaton. Based on the analysis that has been done in this writing, the writer finds out that there are 16 items which are categorized very good, the percentage is 40%. 6 items are good, the percentage is 15%. 9 items are categorized marginal, the percentage is 22,5%. 8 items are categorized revised; the percentage is 20% also. 1 item should be discarded/rewritten and its percentage is 2, 5%. Based on the calculation above, the writer concluded that the English Summative test, which was administered in SMP Negeri 1 Serpong, Tangerang can be categorized in general as having fulfilled the criteria of a good items, since 77,5% of the items were accepted and 22,5% items had to be revised.
