Abstrak
The purpose of this research is to find out the empirical evidence of the teaching of vocabulary through English popular songs of the eight grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Cipondoh is effective. The writer used pre experimental method. There is no control class. The population of this research was the eighth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Cipondoh. The samples were taken randomly from one class only. The writer took 30 students for the samples. The data that the writer got from the research were analyzed using the ttest formula. The result of this research shows that teaching of vocabulary through English popular songs is effective. The result is tobserved = 7.8 and ttable = 1.70. Because to > tt, it means that teaching of vocabulary through English popular songs is effective. The finding of this research is expected to be useful for the English teacher to help their students increase their vocabulary. Moreover, it can give the information to the teacher to know how the way to teach more fun and enjoyable.
