Abstrak
The contribution of the Vygotksy theories and concepts towards the multifaceted opportunities for literacy acquistion of children has been studied in different contexts. This study analyzes some of his concept, such as sosio-cultural theory,semiotic mediation, psychological tools,appropriation,mediation in second language acquisition, and particularly the Zone Proximal Development (ZPD) and scaffolding. This theories are then applied to help early childhood second language learners acquire the language well, children have the possibility to be able to read and write. Vygotsky's concept of scaffolding provides information for parrents and teachers to carry out reading and writing for their children.
