Abstrak
This study explored the relation of shame and guilt to aggressive behavior among 194 adolescents, 15-19 years old, in several senior high school in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, e.g. SMU N 1 Sedayu, SMU N 4 Yogyakarta. In this study, students completed three scales; the Agressive Behavior Scale, the Shame Scale, and the Guity Scale; which is modificated and made by the author. Based on the analysis of regression, shame and guilt could be used to predict 41.7% varians of aggression. Different with the author's hyphoteses that both shame and guilt have negative relation with aggression, in fact, shame was clearly related positively to aggressive behavior (R=0.550;p=0.000). In contrast, guilt was associated negatively with aggressive behavior (R=-0.525;p=0.000) and hypotheses is supported.
