The remarkable growth of Chinese economy in the last three decades has made China become the 2nd largest energy supply issues, China has remarkable exploited the potential of its various renewable energy resources not only to reduce the CO2 emissions (China as the largest emitter with 22.3%) but also in redefining its energy mix towards 2020. This paper summarizes the background, challenges, and success of China in developing, progressing and executing its renewable energy policy, especially in the area of hydro and wind power. Remarkable is also the development of its Photovoltaic industry despite the relatively low domestic consumption. With regards to the implementation of various renewable energy resources in Republic Indonesia, the success story of China renewable energy policy could server as a role model, especially looking into its long-term progresses in Five-Year Plan and Mid and Long term Plan for renewable energy development.
