Abstrak
The research is done to find out whether or not the English Summative test item have consisted of good item in view of discriminating power and facilities value. This research was held at SMP Negeri 3 Ciputat-Tangerang on July 15th, 2008. The population in this research is consist of 40 English items to observe. The writer uses the descriptive qualitative analysis data. In this research, the writer tries to go to the place of this research to see and analyze the result of English Summative Test at SMP Negeri 3 Ciputat-Tangerang. Through this English Summative Test, the writer counts and analyzes all the items of this test to know how many items of test have a bad qualities and need to be fixed or revised by the writer, which is based on the Facilities Value and Discrimination Power of the test. The population of this research is the students at SMP Negeri 3 Ciputat-Tangerang. The sample of this research is the students of class 7-1, at SMP Negeri 3 Ciputat-Tangerang, with the total of students 40 students that the writer took randomly. The research finding shows that SMP Negeri 3 Ciputat-Tangerang has a good quality in English Summative Test, because 40 items of the question in that test, it is only 11 items of that test which need to be fixed or revised by the writer based on the calculation of Facilities Value and Discrimination Power. Through the calculating of Facilities Value and Discrimination Power, the writer found that the items which is having the category of medium as a test is about 57.5%, The category of difficulty test is about 7.5%, and the category of easy test is about 35%. Form the Discrimination Power, the category of poor test is about 22.5%, the category of satisfactory test is about 17.5%, the category of good test is about 35%, the category of excellent test is about 22.5%, and the category of discarded test is about 2.5%. Based on the calculation of Facilities Value and Discrimination Power, the writer found that the category of rejected or revised test is about 27.5%, and the category of accepted or non revised test is about 72.5%.
