This research has an objective that to know the readability of reading text in the English textbook entitle New Snap Shot written by Brian Abbs, Inggrid Freebairn, and Chris Barker and publish by Longman. This research was held on may 10th and 14th 2007 on Jl. Merapi Blok J Cinere Estate Limo Depok West Java. In order to accomplish the objective of the research, the writer got 28 students for the sample. For getting the data the writer used a descriptive quantitative method and the instrument was cloze test. It consisted of 8 reading texts that were completed by students. The research has proved that the book is not suitable for the teaching in the class. Most texts are in independent level. It indicates that the reading texts are too easy for the students to read without any teacher guidance.
