Abstrak
This research is done to find out whether the English summative test items for the eighth grade students of IP YAKIN Junior High School West Jakarta period 2005/2006 have good quality value in terms of difficulty level and discriminating power. The test was held at IP YAKIN Junior High School West Jakarta period 2005/2006 on June 20th 2006. The respondents of this study are the eighth grade students of IP YAKIN Junior High School West Jakarta period 2005/2006. The total numbers of students are 64 students. The number of respondents is more than fifty, thus in this study the writer decides to use 50 students of them as a minimal sample. Then using item analysis procedures, they are ranked from the highest to the lowest to take upper and lower to be analyzed. The technique data analysis of this research is done by performing the data in the form of tables and analyzed the data by using Difficulty Level (D.L.) and Discriminating Power (D.P.) formula. Based on the data analysis of this research, it shows that there are 18 items which must be rejected and revised out of 14 items. Form that information, it is stated that English Summative test for the eighth grade of IP YAKIN Junior High School West Jakarta was good test.
