The purpose of the study is to know the quality of English Try-out test for students? success to face the final examination (Ujian Nasional) at SMKN 35 Jakarta in the 2006/2007 acdemic year aspecially the effectiveness and the reliabilty of the test. The populations of this research are 220 pupils in the thirtd grade pupils of SMKN 35 Jakarta. The samples of the research are 70 pupils. They are scrambled to more reliable and objective. The hypothesis is measured by t-test and Pearson?s Product Moment Correlation. The result of description for the English Try-out test scores (mean = 4.25) and the English Ujian Nasional scores (mean = 7.97). The samples are 70 respondents and the standard deviation is 0.96. The result of correlation analysis shows to = 33.82 with the signification standard 0.05 rt = 1.67. Since to > tt -> 33.82 > 1.67, Hi is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means the English Try-out test score for the third grade pupils of SMKN 35 Jakarta in the 2006/2007 academic year has effectiveness as a practicing instrument for students? success to face the Ujian Nasional. The result of the description for the English Try-out test scores (mean = 4.25) and the English Ujian Nasional scores (mean = 7.97). The result of correlation analysis shows ro = 0.48 with the signification standard 0.05 rt = 0.232. Since ro > rt -> 0.48 > 0.232, Hi is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means the English Try-out test score for the third grade pupils of SMKN 35 Jakarta in the 2006/2007 academic year is equivalent with the English Ujian Nasional. It can be concluded that the English Try-out test made by Dikmenti Jakarta in the 2006/2007 academic year has a high reliability as a prediction instrument for students? success to face the Ujian Nasional.
