Abstrak
In doing this research, the writer only took 42 students as the sample. The research is aimed at discovering whether English summative test for ninth grade of SMPN 206 Jakarta in the first semester year 2008/2009 have fulfilled the appropriate difficulty level and discriminating power. The writer uses a descriptive-quantitative method. He describes the difficulty level and discriminating power of the item. The quantitative analysis is used in analyzing the score to detect whether the test items are good or not. Based on the data analysis it shows that there are 11 (22%) items which must be revised out of 50 items. From that information, it states that English summative test for the ninth grade students of the first semester of the 2008/2009 academic years of SMP Negeri 206 Jakarta is a good test. There are 11 items which have been detected and weak. There fore, they need some revisions.
