Abstrak
This study is aimed to find out the effidence of the effectiveness of role-play in teaching speaking for the seventh grade of SMPN 1 Teluknaga Tangerang. This research was carried out on January 4th, 2010 up to January 22nd, 2010 in the SMPN 1 Teluknaga Tangerang. The object of the research is the effectiveness of role-play in teaching speaking for the seventh garde of SMPN 1 Teluknaga Tangerang. This research used as a set of speaking test as the instrument to get the data of the students? speaking skill. This research is an experiment research. The writer observes the role-play technique in teaching speaking for six contacts hours and then analyzes it. The results of the research are as follows: first, from the calculation of pre-test and post-test average score, varience and standard deviation, the score t (th) was 10,48. Second on the 0,05 standard significance with dk: 41 the score t (tt) was 1,68. it appears th > tt which mean the role-play technique has a good effective results in teaching speaking. The results of this study has proved that role-play is effective used in teaching speaking for seventh grade of SMP N 1 Teluknaga. It is useful for the learners to improve their ability to speak Engliah well. It ia also useful for the English teachers, especially the writer, to increase her knowledge in teaching speaking in junior high school.
