Abstrak
Paper, The Study Program of English Education, The Department of Language and Art Education The School of Teacher Training and Education The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA. This study is aimed at knowing the most typical errors of grammar done by the student of eight semester of Study Program of English Education of UHAMKA Jakarta. The writer administers a guide test on translation. To differ between errors and mistakes, Thus, the errors could be known from the students? mistakes which could not be corrected by themselves. After giving the data, the writer analyzed and categorized the errors based on the grammatical aspects. The study shows that the most typical error done by the eight semester of The Study Program of English Education of University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka Jakarta is in word choice with percentage 35. 84%. The writer found that the students made this error because they are still confused to choose the right, equivalent and closest meaning to convey their ideas in transferring message from the source language into the target language. Also, the habits in their mother language influenced them in learning a second or foreign language. Then the second and the third typical errors done by the students are error in add a w ord and omit a word with percentage 30.18% and 13.20%. The errors mostly made because of the lack of the rule and culture of source language, also the context of the source language and the lack of consideration of clear meaning in transferring message into the target language. It means that interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer are most typical source of errors.
