Abstrak
The term ?multimedia? has become something of a catch-all phrase for a large array of new communication technologies and qualifies without doubt as one of the buzzwords of the past decade, along with similarly fashionable phrases like ?cyberspace? and ?virtual reality?. A wealth of literature is rapidly accumulating on multimedia developments, particularly in popular and ?how to? genres, and on technical aspects. Critical examinations of multimedia are poorly represented. Perspectives on Multimedia is meant to be a contribution to this category of literature and is a collection of reflections on multimedia: its technical and theoretical bases, some of its educational and informational applications, and research approaches and considerations.
